The 18-hole Atlantic Championship course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. opened in 1992 and hosted the Portuguese Open two years later.
Considered one of the 30 best golf courses in Europe, its location in Sintra helps, but being nestled in the mountains makes all the difference. According to experts, a golf course should be built amid nature. The Penha Longa Atlantic Championship couldn’t be more in line with this philosophy.
The course features excellent shot sequencing, and the views are magnificent, especially of the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril and the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
