Furnas golf course is set in the midst of a powerful volcanic landscape with luxuriant tropical vegetation, through a landscape of spectacular natural beauty, offering a truly incredible golfing experience. The first nine holes of the course were laid out by MacKenzie Ross in 1936 and represent the first golf course on the island. Brilliantly extended in 1992 by the architects Bob Cameron and Chris Powell, the course now boasts 18 magnificent holes and a British style clubhouse. We are sure that MacKenzie Ross would be delighted to see that new 9 holes are so in harmony with the spirit and style of the original holes, being very difficult distinguish the first 9 holes of the new holes. The golf course is surrounded by magestic japanese cedars and with friendishly contoured greens, being a genuine test of skill. Is located in one of the most beautiful part of São Miguel island, set above Furnas valley, with it?s famous hot springs and Terra Nostra Gardens, close to the beautiful Furnas crater lake and only 25 minutes from Ponta Delgada.
