Golf Course description
PGA Aroeira No. 1 is one of Portugal’s most iconic golf courses, with an internationally recognized legacy. Throughout its history, it has hosted major tournaments, such as the European Tour’s Portuguese Open (1996 and 1997) and the European Men’s Club Trophy (2013). The course was also recognized by Golf World magazine, ranking among the 100 best golf courses in Continental Europe.
In late 2024, PGA Aroeira No. 1 reopened following an extensive renovation designed to further enhance the playing experience. The improvements include new bunkers, a fully modernized irrigation system, and renewed landscaping, developed with a focus on sustainability and the preservation of the course.
This 18-hole course was designed by architect Frank Pennink and opened in 1973.
