OPORTO GOLF CLUB

If one had to describe Oporto G.C. in a single word, there would be no doubt which to employ is, tradition. This course is located 17 kilometers to the south of Oporto beside the beautiful beaches of Espinho. It is, after Pan, in France, the second oldest course in Continental Europe. It was established in 1890, when British residents in Porto created the club. The course, an authentic links, is relatively short (5,668 meters for a Par 71). Its narrow fairways, however, are the main obstacles, starting out with a difficult Par 4. In terms of challenging holes, one cannot forget number 11, a Par 5 of 494 meters, which together with hole number 4, is considered to be the most difficult on the course. As if to balance the difficulties of, these earlier holes, each of the course?s two halves concludes with a very accessible Par 5 hole, providing some exciting endings for competitions. The Skenffigton Cup, which since 1891 has been played annually, is the oldest competition in the sport to have been played without interruption.

AXIS GOLFE PONTE DE LIMA

Axis Golf is a 18-hole course for a par 71 of 6005 meters, situated near Ponte de Lima, and was inaugurated on the 15th of September 1995. In this space, golf enthusiasts, professionals or amateurs, will have all conditions for the sport, including a stunning natural surroundings that invites to relaxation and mental rest. Located on a rural area, the course is a mixed between level and hilly, the first 9 holes being hilly and the second 9 level. These unique characteristics in the northern region delight players with the fantastic views over the Lima valley as well as having contact with the typical Minho countryside. The Vidago Palace course was redesigned by the firm Cameron and Powell from a Mackenzie Ross original, built in 1936.
